Carolyn Lavecchia
Carolyn Lavecchia, J.D., R.N., F.N.P., B.S.N., M.S., the leader of the Elder Abuse Law team of Williamson & Lavecchia, L.C., welcomes you to our site and hopes you will find it informative and useful. We would like to share with you a brief look at the unique experience of Carolyn.Before she became a lawyer representing victims of elder abuse and medical malpractice, Carolyn served on the faculty of the Medical College of Virginia (now Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center) where she provided care to patients and was the Nurse Director of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. Prior to her position at the Medical College of Virginia, Carolyn was a Nurse Practitioner in the Emergency Department and Triage Clinic at the V.A. Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee, and was also an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the University of Tennessee. Earlier in her career, she was a head nurse in the Coronary Care Unit at the University of Virginia Medical Center and a public health nurse.
In the early 1980’s she decided to become a lawyer and help people injured by the wrongful conduct of health care providers. For over twenty years, Carolyn has successfully represented patients and their families in cases against negligent physicians, hospitals, nursing homes, and adult homes. Combining her health care experience with her skills as a trial lawyer dedicated to helping the injured has earned Carolyn the admiration of her clients and the respect of her opponents. She has also written and lectured extensively on medical malpractice and related topics.

Joshua D. Silverman
Josh has been litigating nursing home and assisted living cases since shortly after joining Williamson & Lavecchia, L.C. in 1998. Josh is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland, Ohio. He is active in all areas of the firm's practice including nursing home abuse and neglect, medical malpractice, and personal injury law. Josh is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America Nursing Home Litigation Group. He serves on the Board of Governor's for the Virginia Trial Lawyer's Association and is the past chairman of the Young Trial Lawyer's Division and Publication Committee. He currently serves as the co-chairman of the VTLA Membership Committee.
For the past six years, Josh has served as an editor of The Journal which is published by the Virginia Trial Lawyer's Association and he has published several articles in The Journal. Josh regularly volunteers his time at the Virginia Legal Aid Society and lectures to high school students regarding the legal consequences of drunk driving.
